Being a city born and bred girl, I have never had many interactions with pets big or small. Apart from our annual holiday to visit grandparents where there were cattle in the barn behind the house and cats and kittens in the pantry!
Rima on the other hand grew up in midst of farm animals who used to watch her play outside our house in the staff campus at Stracathro Hospital. She has become a lover of all animals big and small. Cats being the favourite.
After having Fudge part of our family for most of his life on this planet, cats have created a warm fuzzy corner in my heart. Being a volunteer for Cats Protection Montrose & Brechin branch fulfils that urge to be around felines and gives me great pleasure every Tuesday.
At the moment, we have Missy, Keeta, Fernando, Sisko, Nala, Spooky and Molly. Sisko and Spooky are sisters. Missy and Sisko are both shy whereas Spooky is full of beans and mischievous. What bothers me most is that while there are so many enquiries about Sisko but not one person has shown any interest in giving the older cats a forever home.
Whether I will adopt another cat is still up for discussion but one thing I learnt is … until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.
